Caring for your Mysa Bench
A little regular care will help preserve the beauty of your Mysa’s frame and handwoven fibre rush seat.
The woven seat
Fibre rush is a durable twisted-paper cord used in traditional seat weaving. A gentle touch and minimal moisture are the essentials.
Cleaning the surface
For surface dirt, gently dab with a barely damp cloth. Never soak, scrub, steam clean, or spray cleaner directly onto the weave.
Let it air-dry
Allow the seat to dry fully before use. Keep it away from direct heat while drying.
A spill? Blot, don’t rub.
Blot immediately with a clean, dry cloth to absorb the liquid.
Keep wet shoes, damp clothing, and sharp objects off the seat. Avoid standing or kneeling on the weave.
A little movement is natural.
The handwoven fibre rush seat may shift and settle slightly with use. Small changes in the spacing and position of the strands are normal as the weaving settles over time.
The walnut frame
- Dust gently. Use a soft, dry cloth.
- Wipe when needed. Use a barely damp cloth and dry promptly.
- Keep cleaning simple. Avoid abrasive sponges, harsh cleaners, and household cleaning sprays.
A comfortable place to live
Keep your bench indoors, away from damp areas, prolonged direct sunlight, and heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces.
Wood moves with the seasons.
A stable indoor environment helps limit its natural movement.
